Wild Card Weekend Ramblings

Here are some thoughts from each NFL Wild Card Weekend game:

  • The Panthers put up an impressive fight. Carolina has seemed to have found a franchise QB in Bryce Young and a strong HC in Dave Canales. They should only be better from here on out and should be considered the favourites in the NFC South going forward.
  • The Bears are legit. They have surprised me the most with how quickly they have turned around their team. Chicago has finally found a franchise QB in Caleb Williams and a brilliant offensive mind in HC Ben Johnson. They are buzzing. They might not be favoured to go the distance this year, but they will be in the upper echelon of Super Bowl favourites in the near future.
  • Are the Jaguars/Trevor Lawrence cursed? They seem to often do well in the regular season, but crumble in the playoffs. HC Liam Coen has turned out to be a legit hire, but the jury is still out on QB Trevor Lawrence, after he choked away another playoff win. The leash should be super short on him, and he should be given one last chance to prove he could take this team far in the playoffs, because that is what matters after all; not the regular season.
  • Is this the end of the short-lived Eagles dynasty? Philadelphia lost to San Francisco and now enter the offseason with more questions than answers. WR1 AJ Brown seems to be on the way out after clashing with coaches and QB Jalen Hurts, and HC Nick Sirianni seems to have lost the locker room/that magic offensive touch he seemed to have not too long ago. Not to mention, Hurts’ play is gradually declining. This seems to be the end of Philly’s reign in the NFC East, with Washington getting QB Jayden Daniels back and healthy next season, and the Giants having found a legit QB in Jaxson Dart.
  • The Patriots are so back. Am I wrong or does this Pats team look like the Pats’ dynasty of old? Nope I am right. They have an elite QB in Drake Maye and a suffocating defense led by a fiery no non-sense football coach. They should be considered the favourites in the AFC to reach the Super Bowl.
  • Aaron Rodgers should hang them up. The Texans blew out the Steelers behind their dominant D, with Pittsburgh only managing 6 points. Rodgers had surely one of his worst games when it mattered: 17-33 for 146 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 turnovers. He doesn’t seem like he has fully bought into playing in the NFL as of late. It is time to trade in your uniform for some pyjamas and hang out on the couch Aaaron. You deserved it.
