NFL Divisional Round Ramblings

Here is a thought on each Divisional Round game:

  • The Broncos’ Super Bowl hopes have gone out the window with Bo Nix suffering a season-ending ankle injury. Despite having the strongest Defense in the playoffs, new QB1 Jarrett Stidham will hamper the offense. Perhaps, the Broncos lean on their ground game some more now, but I don’t think it will be enough. Sucks for a team that was about to go the distance.
  • The Seahawks should be considered the favourites to win the Super Bowl. Seattle laid an absolute beatdown on the 49ers displaying both an elite Defense and Offense. They successfully mixed in the run game and were able to produce 41 points despite having an off-night from Darnold and the passing game. If I was a betting man, I would take the Seahawks to win the Lombardi trophy in February.
  • CJ Stroud is just not HIM. After a stellar rookie performance, he has regressed badly since then. He wasted a stout Defense with his piss-poor play against the Pats. He went 20-47 for 212 yards, 1 TD, and 4 INTs. I think it is time that Houston pulls the plug on him, but I wouldn’t blame them if they wanted to give him 1 more year as he is on an affordable rookie deal. It just would not be wise to pick up his 5th year option or to give him an extension at this point.
  • Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears have a bright future. I am sure everyone has seen the miraculous play by Williams as he scrambled on 4th down getting chased back the Rams’ Defense and then using his rocket arm to throw a game-tying TD to Cole Kmet in the back of the End Zone with 14 seconds left in the game to send it to Overtime. Unfortunately for Bears’ fans, the Rams would end up kicking a 43 yard FG in OT and winning. Still, the young Bears team had a heck of a season and gave each team a tough out. They will be back in this spot for years to come I am sure.
