Here is a thought from each Conference Championship game:
New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos
- Bo Nix was the difference. If the Broncos had Bo Nix at QB, they win this game easily. Their defense was buzzing, putting Drake Maye in hell all game, and only holding the Patriots offense to 10 points. Backup QB Jarrett Stidham had a nice opening drive leading the offense to a touchown, marked by a 52 yard throw to WR Marvin Mims Jr. and then a 6 yard strike into the endzone to WR1 Courtland Sutton. It was very uninspiring for the journeyman QB after that. Bo Nix would have undoubtedly provided more of a spark at the position and it would have been enough to secure the victory for Denver.
Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
- QB Matt Stafford should play for another 5 years at least. There are rumblings that he might re-consider playing and retire this offseason, but I hope he doesn’t. If his play is any indication, he surely shouldn’t retire just yet, even if he is going to be 38 years old at the start of the season. His play however is that of a 28 year old. He went 22-35 for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns against a stingy Seattle pass-defense. He kept the Rams in it all game, but it wasn’t enough as they would lose by 4 points in the end. He should win the MVP award this season, and hopefully this will motivate him to come back and chase another ring. One thing is for certain, his play has not declined one bit.
